What are rewards?

How rewards work and how they connect to gems.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Parents choose rewards from a curated list inside the app and decide which ones to make available to their child. Some examples or rewards are

Ice Cream, Mini, 200 gems

Stay Up 30 Minutes Later, Small, 350 gems

Movie Theater Outing, Medium, 850 gems

Concert Tickets, Large, 2250 gems

Each reward has a suggested gem value, but parents can adjust how many gems are required. Our size guide helps give some context to the suggested values. For example, a mini reward should take a week of reading 20 minutes a day to earn enough gems to redeem.

If you want to adjust the value, keep in mind that kids receive 3 gems for every minute spent reading and then additional gems when they finish a book or achieve a major milestone.

As kids earn gems through reading, they can work toward these rewards. Once they have enough gems, they can request them, and parents decide when to give them.

Creating a rewards list is available to all parents, but sharing rewards with your child and using them together requires a YOMU Plus subscription.
