What is YOMU?

An overview of what YOMU is and how it helps kids build reading habits.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

YOMU is a reading habit app designed to help families make reading consistent, visible, and rewarding.

Readers log their books, track their progress, and build streaks. Parents recognize milestones with gems, a digital reward that can be exchanged for real-world rewards with approval.

Yomu celebrates effort, progress, and consistency. It does not try to replace books. It helps build the habit of reading them.

What YOMU isn't:

To avoid confusion, here’s what YOMU does not do:

YOMU is not an online bookstore.

We do not sell books. Readers choose books from anywhere they like, including libraries, bookstores, or home bookshelves.

YOMU is not an e-reader.

You cannot read books inside YOMU. The app is for tracking, celebrating, and encouraging reading that happens offline or elsewhere.

YOMU is not a social media platform.

There are no public feeds, follower counts, comments, or messaging between children. YOMU is intentionally private and family-centered.

YOMU does not advertise books to children.

We do not run book ads or push sponsored titles. Recommendations are designed to support reading, not drive purchases.

YOMU is not a screen-heavy substitute for reading.

The goal is to get readers off the app and into their books. The app supports the habit, it does not replace it.
